Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by
Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re
eagerly anticipating.
This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read”
selection is:
Winter
By Marissa Meyer
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Release date: November 10, 2015
From
Goodreads:
Princess
Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite
the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking
than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend–the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

My Thoughts:
The Lunar Chronicles is one of the best series
to ever be written. I marathoned Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress over a few months
starting at the end of last year. It is just one of those spectacular series
that once it grabs you it won’t let go. When it comes to
fairy tale retellings, I believe Marissa Meyer is pretty much queen. I was
blown away by how she took very distinct fairytales with strong female leads,
and managed to re-write these characters and stories entwined in one epic
universe.
I think that Winter is pretty much on everyone’s most anticipated
books for 2015 list. I know it is on mine. I recently checked the page count,
and it seems that Winter will be over 800 pages long. OVER 800 PAGES!!!!! I
also saw some interviews with Marissa Meyer and from what I read, I will need
to ensure that I have tissues handy when I read this. That is not necessarily
surprising since I’ve cried before reading this series.
Can we just take a moment to marvel at the beauty of this cover?
Absolutely brilliant!
I really just hope that all of our amazing protagonists get their
very own happily-ever-after.
OMG YES! I am beyond ready and excited for this one!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I will try my hardest to finish reading it by the end of its release week. I pre-ordered it so I should be able to start reading it that Tuesday. Cannot wait!!!
DeleteSO SO EXCITED! I loved this whole series, and I can't wait to see how it ends. I hadn't seen that about 800+ pages (that would be awesome).
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite character? I love how Meyer makes you care about all of the characters, and they're all so different.
When I saw the page count I might have done a happy dance ;)
DeleteI think if I had to pick just one, it would be Thorne because of his personality; but I love all of them. I am invested in every single character and I hope it all works out for everyone. Do you have a favorite character?
