2017 Reading Challenges

Hi Guys! 2016 has been a crazy, exciting, and amazing year for me: I became a mom!!!

My little bundle of joy was born at the end of the year, so I spent the majority of the year preparing for his arrival. I really wanted to continue writing for my blog, but I never seemed to find the time. Now that things are starting to fall into place and I am developing a routine, I can dedicate more time to reading and blogging. With that being said, I am going to keep a pretty low reading goal (in number of books), but I plan on participating in quite a few reading challenges that other bloggers are hosting. So here are the reading challenges I am participating in this year:

Goodreads 2017 Challenge: 50 Books

For this year’s Goodreads Challenge I decided to aim for 50 books. If I happen to read more that would be great, but I don’t want to feel overwhelmed. Being a new mom will take a lot of time and I don’t want reading to become a chore.

Rock My TBR 2017

This challenge is hosted by Sarah at The YA Booktraveler . For this challenge I don’t have a specific number in mind, I hope to get through as many books as possible J Check out the original challenge announcement with all the rules here. Also, use #ROCKMYTBR to connect with others participating in this year’s challenge and make some new bookish friends.

Series Enders 2017

This challenge is hosted by Sandy at Somewhere Only We Know and Holly at Words Fueled By Love For this challenge I am aiming for Level 2: 5-10 books for the year. Check out the original challenge announcement with all the rules here. This is my second year participating in the challenge. Although I failed miserably last year, this year I plan on staying on track and completing this challenge.

Audiobook Challenge 2017

This challenge is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. For this challenge I am doing the Stenographer level: 10-15 audiobooks for the year. Check out the original challenge announcement with all the rules here. I started listening to audiobooks a couple of years ago and I absolutely love them. In addition to having an audible account, I also take full advantage of the audiobooks available at my local library. Not only do they have audiobooks on CDs, but they also have a massive digital catalog that keeps on growing. If you don’t want to always pay for audiobooks (they are quite expensive), I recommend talking to your librarian about their audiobook availability. For the longest time, I had no idea that my library had a digital library.

2017 New Release Challenge

This challenge is hosted by Lexxie at (un)Conventional Bookviews. For this challenge I am doing the Newbie level: 1-30 books for the year. Check out the original challenge announcement with all the rules here. I am super excited for this challenge because I feel it will push me to read books that I buy as soon as they are released but don’t read right away. This challenge should prevent them from staying on my TBR for years.

These five challenges should keep me busy for the year. One of the things I love most about them is that whether I read or listen to a book it will count for multiple challenges. What’s most important for me when participating in reading challenges, besides discovering new worlds to immerse myself in, is the other book lovers and bloggers I get to meet. If you are looking for some buddy reads check out the Perpetual YA Bookworms group on Goodreads here; we like it when our members get involved, so please feel free to send emails with book read-along requests. There’s nothing better than discussing books as you read them with other booknerds :D

    1. Thank you! I know that I might not get through a lot of reading this year and that is okay with me. Spending time with my little one always takes priority, The good thing is that I actually started reading out loud to him when I put him to sleep, so for now at least, I can still read my books. Soon I will have to switch to more age appropriate stories. lol
